BBA4 winner, Kevin Chuwang Pam 'supposedly' engaged to ex-housemate Elizabeth Gupta

Three weeks ago, i saw Kevin Chuwang Pam with fellow BBA Revolution housemate Tanzanian TV Presenter/Actress Elizabeth “Lizzy” Gupta at a party in Aqua, Abuja! which i posted a pic of them on spotted! well i kind of guessed something was up!

Last Saturday (21 Aug) while at the Ogus Baba Laugh Goes On comedy club in Port Harcourt, Big Brother Revolution winner, Kevin Chuwang Pam and his lady friend, and Revolution contestant Elizabeth Gupta got up on stage and performed a track together.

Nigeria’s biggest comedian, Ali Baba introduced the couple to the 2000 strong crowd. Once they’d finished performing “Una Pata Mambo” (Anything you want, right there you get it), Kevin went down on one knee and proposed to Elizabeth. He said he kept it simple and just asked: “Elizabeth, will you marry me?”.

The crowd started screaming: “say yes, say yes, say yes” and obviously she did. Kevin then says a woman broke free from the crowd, ran onto the stage and congratulated them both with a huge hug.

Congrats to Kevin and Elizabeth. The past 12 months have been amazing for Kevin, first he became the first Nigerian to win Big Brother Africa and picked up a $200,000 cheque for his efforts and now he is reportedly engaged to the love of his life. Up next for Kevin is the release of his debut album, his singles “Wok Pichak” featuring Stitched, “Una Pata Mambo” featuring Stitched and Lizzy, “Thank You” and “Dance Hall Nice” are already getting airplay on the radio. Elizabeth is also working on her music and acting career, she featured in a Tanzanian movie entitled “Danger Zone” earlier in the year. Kevin nah u biko!

Mercy Johnson's “Dirty Skin” Washed in Germany?

The allegation recently that the Nollywood actresses Ini Edo (the wife of the America based Philip Ehiagwina) and Tonto Dike were into woman-to-woman affair as was awash in the media has not skipped my head yet another salvo was heard. This time, it was that Mercy Johnson whose wedding was fixed for August, 2010 just returned from Germany to Nigeria where it was said that she went for skin washing in one of the German best beauty clinics.

Read the report, “Controversial Nollywood Actress, Mercy Johnson has just breezed into the country from far away Germany. Mercy we learnt was in the country for a while to wash her skin from some reputable beauty clinic. Before now, she has been labelled “dirty skin” by some fans and foes”.

Salt: Movie Review

Salt

Rating: 6/10

Cast: Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, Chiwetel Ejiofor

Director: Phillip Noyce

In the absence of any kind of new Bond film, there's always a new contender ready to step up.

This year's entry is Angelina Jolie's Salt.

Jolie is Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent whose life is turned upside down one day when, on the eve of her wedding anniversary, a Russian defector comes in from the cold and fingers her as a Russian sleeper agent.

And things go from bad to worse when Salt's accused of being the one who will kill the Russian president in America, igniting fears of Day X (a feared day when America and her allies will be attacked on all sides) coming true.

Mind you, Salt doesn't help herself by running - to try and clear her name.

Soon, everyone wants a piece of Salt - and the clock is ticking.

Salt is a thriller which doesn't thrill as much as it could. It's fine in the action stakes and kudos need to be given to those involved as the majority of the stunts are done without the use of CGI...but it's the story which has hokum written all over it.

Right - here's your warning; this is where things get a little spoilery.

If you're after a bit of a story where the plot holes are apparent but want to just put your brain in neutral, then this is the film for you.

As Salt swaps sides left right and centre, it gets a bit dizzying as you try and keep up with who she is and isn't - but it's almost as if the film makers have considered that and when she goes bad, she wears black (just like in the wild west) and when she's Russian, she wears Russian furs.

While that sounds fine, that's indicative of how the overall film is - it's not amazing and it's not terrible either - it's just ok. There's a clever idea in there about sleeper agents - and one twist did catch me unaware - but all in all, the film feels a little bit of a disappointment.

And the fact it's set up for a sequel didn't leave me wanting more (not a good sign).

The main trio of actors involved- Schreiber, Ejiofor and Jolie acquit themselves fine - they're all very dour and G man in various ways - and the whole film does take itself rather seriously. Jolie's ok when she's kicking some ass but she looks so slight that it's a hard ask to be convinced that she'd be the one to better the bad guys (or are they the good guys?).

Unfortunately Salt is lacking a little bite and tension at the end - while there are some signs those involved wanted this to be a female Bourne Identity, it doesn't quite measure up and is ultimately underwhelming.

It’s well-known that Jolie wasn’t the first choice to star in Salt, joining the project only after Tom Cruise dropped out, citing the story’s growing similarities to the Mission: Impossible films. But she’s more than just a capable replacement; she’s a welcome upgrade over Cruise, not least because she’s over a decade younger (and a few inches taller), than her predecessor. Should Brad Bird require a pinch-hitter for Ethan Hunt, he knows where to look.

OMO but i still like this movie, tickets were sold out last night at sliverbrid, Jolie did a very job! TELL ME WHICH OTHER FEMALE ACTRESS YOU THINK WOULD HAVE DONE THIS ROLE BETTER?

(Although having watched Salt, I've learnt how to turn an ordinary office chair into some kind of rocket launcher - so my colleagues had best watch out...) lol! wink!
